Thomas Hedden works primarily for translation agencies, which act as middlemen for translation services. Translation agencies typically do not disclose the names of the translators who do their work, and this state of affairs is usually contractually agreed between translation agencies and translators. For this reason, few end users of translations are even aware of which translator(s) translate their work, and so cannot provide references. Although translators generally are aware of the names of the end users of the translations they work on, they are contractually prohibited from disclosing this information.
